This is kinda off the subject of engines, but what shade(s) of red did ford use on the rangers, etc during '88,my truck doesn't have the data sticker on the drivers door.Just wondering, thanks.:headbang:

Mine is dark canyon red but not the metallic is is supposed to be. I'm guessing it was supposed to have the eddie bauer tan trim. Go over to the duplicolor web page and they have a locator for vehicle make and model that gives you their version of color.

there should be a data plate in the drivers side of the engine compartment somewhere.

Thanks.I looked at the chevy section for my old '85 k5 and they didn't mention apple red, guess it was special ordered, miss that old girl.Had all the original paperwork, window sticker and all!She sold for $18,000 in '86,can't touch that price for a new 4x these days. The reason I was wonderin' about the paint color is that I bought an '88 supercab 4x and a friend has a shell for sale that is blue and white and I'd like to have it all match.Could I paint the shell with the duplicolor and still have it look somewhat decent?:headbang:

depends on how good you are with rattlecans. for that much area, I'd go down to an automotive paint supplier, spend the money, and have them match a quart to your vehicle. if you ask nice, they can load that special mix into rattlecans, used to be about $ 100 all told, a while back.

after all these years, I'll bet the paint has faded some.

I also have used an el cheapo harbor freight gravity feed gun with decent success. didn't even bother to clean it, just threw it away.
