I just recently finished a swap into this truck, and I'm getting a CEL code:
P1309: Misfire Detection Monitor not enabled

Everything seems to be kosher. No drive-ability issues, all appears to be operating normally. I had a few issues with the throttle, idle rolling up and down and after a blip to the throttle in park, poor initial throttle response but I think I've fixed all this today. That's when it threw this code. I can clear it out, but after some spirited driving it comes back.

About 250 miles since rebuild and install. I installed a new cam position sensor and ECT on day one. Other than that it's all the factory harness connections.

Ay help is appreciated!

I found this with some searching and I'm going to try this out, see what I get. I still have the OEM cam position sensor assembly and plug on a shelf. It was chirping like mad and all wore out, so I decided to get a new, quiet one.

HD40 CHECK CMP SENSOR OUTPUT

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1309 indicates Misfire Detection Monitor is not enabled.

Breakout box installed, PCM disconnected.
Connect digital multimeter between PCM test pin 85 and test pins 51 or 103.
Bump engine in short burst with the starter without starting engine for at least 10 engine revolutions.
Does digital multimeter reading switch between low (less than 2.0 volts DC) and high (greater than 8.0 volts DC)?

Yes
Note: A Hall effect type CMP sensor that is installed out of synchronization will produce a DTC. VERIFY the correct installation by referring to the Powertrain/Engine Group in the Workshop Manual. If the CMP is installed properly, REPLACE PCM. RESTORE vehicle. RERUN Quick Test .

No
REPLACE CMP sensor. RESTORE vehicle. COMPLETE Misfire Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle. RERUN Quick Test .

Are you sure the new sensor is in synch?

The test for that code is kinda stupid. You already did the one half, the other half is to make sure it was installed correctly.

I used the alignment tool, but I may be off a tooth (if possible). I've never messed with a distributor-less ignition on these 5.0's, but I've stabbed plenty of distributors.

You think I should re-stab it?

It's easy enough to be worth a shot.

Also, just check to make sure the magnet is in the sensor tight.

I'll try that. I may put the OEM plastic sensor that plugs in, back on as well. I bought the entire assembly and alignment tool from flea-bay. I might have to consider a Motorcraft if it doesn't want to cooperate. I read quite a bit on here that these are inferior.

Yeah, the e-bay ones are junk.

I've also seen the magnets being loose causing that code. It wobbles and produces and erratic signal.

Where's the best place to find a Motorcraft replacement? I'm not having much luck. The one I have works perfectly but is just noisy and wore out. I might look at rebuilding it.

Motorcraft Synchronizer DA2090 - 99~01 5.0L

Any Ford dealer should be able to get you one for about $160 or so. Summit and Rockauto have the same part for around $100. Best price I've found is Amazon for about $85 shipped.

Keep in mind that the Motorcraft Synchronizer assembly does not include the Camshaft Position Sensor itself. If yours is still good, just swap it over. Otherwise, you'll need to get one of those as well.

Thank You Sir!

I saw that part number on Rockauto but was unsure if it was the better quality. Tried to save a buck, lesson learned.
