P0401 CEL...Truck runs bad now

yeah i disconnected the battery for a couple minutes then tryed to start in and it still cranks forever and dosent start...i even put the old TPS back on that it used to start fine with installed and it now wont start with the old one either since i removed it..this is crazy.

still having the same problem...when i decelerate the RPM will fall slowly until about 1000rpm and then randomly jump up to 1500rpm and then slowly come down to about 1000rpm where it stays when i stop..should go down to about 700rpm..sometimes it will decelrate normally but it seems as the motor runs longer the worse it gets...sometimes it will idle perfect while stopped....and today when i went to start the truck it would not start just cranked..so i held the gas pedal to the floor and started it and it started up and you could tell the engine was flooded? what would cause these problems...new IAC,MAF cleaned but not replaced, new DPFE, and i cant find any vacuum leaks...anyone have anything else?

Hey guys,I just finished with the same problem.Mine A 1993 2.3 ranger completely quit and wouldn't start back ,the EGR Vacuum Regulator was bad . The way it's set-up the two wires that plugs into it also controls the fuel pump power ,so when the egr vacuum regulator goes completely out no power to the fuel pump

ATVKID.... did you actually try yhr voltmeter on the altenator? easy test... get the engine running... then open the hood with every electrical you can turn on... heat full lights radio.. and see if your readings are showing a steady 12-14 volts of charging. if you are getting pitch waves and no constant you might want to try another altenator. get in good with a parts place and ask them what their return policy is so you have a down payment if the one you need to return gets no different results.. i have had this same problem and all it needed was a new alt.
