Google: 1988 Ford Ranger O2 pigtail connector
Truck side should be female connector and O2 side male
I think 1988 used 3 wires but connector is a 4 wire connector, and usually a round connector but some were D shape
You are there, so will know which one will be the right one for your Ranger
This one says it fits 1988 Ranger: Duralast Pigtail Connector Harness 651

I see you may have a 4.0l in an 1988???
Then you would need an O2 pigtail for a 4.0l , try 1991 they would be 4 wire and round
