I have a 1989 Ranger with a 2.3L engine. Upon inspecting the Oxygen sensor cable, I noticed there is a bare wire dangling from the harness coming to the sensor. The sensor has 3 wires on it and the connector it plugs into has 3 wires, but the other end of the harness has 4 wires on it.
I noticed the wiring diagram shows that the 2.3L engine had 4 wires, but this one only has 3 with the fourth wire coming from the EEC grounded. Should this dangling wire be grounded somewhere or is the EEC already grounded? If it should be grounded, would this cause the check engine light to come on?
