Overhead Light Switch Not Working

Back again everyone, I have a 2004 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 and I'm having trouble with my dome light. The dimmer switch for the gage cluster works but when I switch it all the way to the top to turn the dome light on it doesn't turn it on. It used to be an intermittent problem but now I just can't ever get it to work. I know the bulb is still good because the light turns on about 95% of the time when I open my doors and turns off when I close them, but I cannot for the life of me figure out why the switch isn't working. I would imagine the dimmer switch is still working and good because the dimming feature for the gage cluster like I mentioned works but its just the dome light that doesn't work when turned all the way up. If anyone could give me a pointer on where to start that would be fabulous because I'm losing my marbles over it, any help would be appreciated, thanks!

My guess is the switch is bad, it's actually 2 switches in 1, 2 separate circuits.

that and there may be a gem componant downline of that....or special junction box...whatever the hell crazy crap they started doing then

I don't think my truck has a gem module in it, I think that's older ones but I could be wrong.

I'm going to try and replace the dimmer switch and I'll let you guys know if that fixes my issue. Hopefully that's all it is, but if it's not, hopefully someone can help me out.

the special...as in dumb... smart junction box is the modern gem...i use them improperly interchangeably ...

Howdy...

I could use an assist on SJB repairs. On a 2005 FX4, the largest, upper connector (with the locking handle) has an intermittent connection to the dome light / supervision circuit.

Sometimes the dome light works, and then it doesn't. This is bad because the aftermarket alarm depends on that circuit. I can press on, or jiggle the harness connector and toggle the fault.

So, I would like to replace the connector, or at least disassemble it. I understand there's special tools for this, and I haven't been able to source the connector yet.

the supervision control is positive...black/light blue pin 14 and the triggers are neg yellow black and gray red....

different then the 2005 posted there...but what my data has for 2004

What the heck is supervision control? Is that what I need to mess with to fix the dome light switch?

that is the main power to turn the damn things on....it can interface with alarm systems and stuff....with entry and dim delay ect... it is delay dimmed ect with timer modules and shit.... cool stuff...but layers of failure i do not need.
