I have search all over here and 2 other ranger sites and can't find any info on putting one of the explorer overhead consoles in a gen2 ranger. Does any body have any info on this? Can it be done? is there a write up some where? has any body done this? Thanks

I have one in my first gen. But I also have a complete wire harness/motor out of 04 ranger. But it should not be that hard the only thing you would not have ease of finding is the speed sensor. the speed sensor is to help the temp gauge something about raising the temp when the car is setting still. Not real sure thought. Every thing else should be fairly easy.

Light Blue w/ red goes to the dimmer wire behind the radio.
Purple w/ org. hot with key on. Behind the radio another easy spot to tap a wire.
Light green w/ org. constant hot for map lights. again behind radio or cig. lighter.
Black w/ blue. hot with dome light. Tap into the dome light power source.
Blue w/green and Blue w/org. go to the temp sensor.
Solid black is ground.
gray w/black is for the speed sensor. I believe your truck has one due to abs, not sure how necessary it is.
All other wire are for the Mirrors. good luck and post some pics. of the install.

Yeah it seems pretty straight forward. Just have to find the speed sensor wire. I know there is a walk through on here that is for 3rd gen does any body know if the wire colors are the same from 2nd to 3rd gens? I will do a write up and pics of the install once it get it going.

i put one in my 87 BII and the wiring info i got here matched what i got out of the pick and pull yard...

alright cool thanks. hoping to hit he yard this weekend and pull the console. although the jy around here usually doesn't have much it gets picked hard.
