is driving in a 3 state area and home every night considers OTR??? been driving cdl for almost 2 years with a local parts company and thinking about see what is out there....but every one wants 2years over the road. also clean driving records....could 1 speeding violation kill chances of possible driving job?

Is your violation while driving a company truck, or a personal vehicle?

OTR means NOT being home every night. I'd stick with what you have unless you have shit pay, many OTR drivers WISH they had a gig like what you have.

$12 an hour. could make more as a cashier...my driving ticket was in a company ford van

OTR can be any mile away from home. If you are driving a truck or hauling freight, its trucking experience aka otr....Anything over 100 mile radius you have to log. CR England has an awesome school, you will need the refresher course, which is like $50....I can put you in touch with someone if you are interested. I'm at their SLC yard right now....

OTR is for big rigs. Not driving a company van or truck. They have differerent regulations. Speeding tickets are frowned upon but some companies won't hire you and others will. It is up to the comapny. One of my Brother-in-laws drives big rigs. He had to go to a commercial truck driving school to get the job. As far as I know all companies require commerical driving schools to get a job.

I think some clarification is needed...

Do you even have a CDL?

$12 an hour driving a company van is essentially delivery for a place like Autozone...

If that's the case, you aren't even remotely qualified to be an OTR Driver (No offense).

You need to get a CDL, or look for a company that will hire you and put you through school to get a CDL.

i do have my cdl and i do drive big rig for my work...

as for the van it was a very light load day and i was driving from laconia new hampshire to lewiston maine.

if you wanna switch to long hauls, just apply and see what happens... all they can do is tell you NO!

but i know a lot of trucks since i work in a semi body shop in memphis; and i know a lot of them that would love to have your job... OTR trucking is not for a family guy...

If you have a CDL $12 is unacceptable for what you are doing IMO.

Bread trucking is a different animal as goofy as it sounds.

They "Own" routes, and have some pretty wicked expenses, and normally own their own trucks, so he may have made $75K, but might not have mentioned how much he had to pay out of pocket.

But yes, OTR is $42-45K Average IIRC, 37K Minimum typically.

not that kind of bread truck....country kitchin hires krisway trucking out of south portland and has semi trucks bring the bread from lewiston maine to all over the place to "hubs" then the guys that deliver to the stores are owners
