I'm getting ready to install an over head console, and was wondering if i need to remove the headliner from the truck to mount the bracket or if i just need to do a guesstimate and cut a hole in my roof.

what I did was set it up there where I wanted it then pressed it hard into the headliner where you can see the impression of it. Then started cutting

no need to remove the headliner. just place the console where you want it, as close to center as possible, and press hard into the headliner. it will make an indentation in the liner. then start cutting away a little at a time to get the right amount of material removed. do it in short steps so you dont cut too much away.

I did remove my headliner. First it only takes a couple of minutes and second, its a lot easier to work on it (cut it) on a bench or the ground.

Also nothing is in the way for installing the mounting bracket
