and now for the new. its an '06 (yeah, i first thought it was an '08, brain fart) f150 supercab 4x4 XL. 4.6 v-8, auto trans, manual 4x4, wash out interior, A/C, and larger trans cooler, are the only options. its got 68,000 miles and runs like a top. it was a fun 4 hour drive with no cruise, though. that will take a little getting used to.

bought it off my stepfather, because he is about to leave for afganistan (in one week, gone for 6 months), to do engineering work for the USACE. when he gets back he's getting a super duty to haul tractors, cattle, horses, etc, that the 4.6 just couldn't handle.

i'll get some interior pics up if it ever stops raining.

these pics were all taken at my parents house. rigs include my explorer, mom's stang (under cover), mom's black '04 f150 supercrew 4x4 (5.4, tow package, special ordered beast of a truck), and my new green truck

thanks! theres a couple more fords in that stable, but i didn't get pics of them. one is a 94 f150 ext cab with around 400,000 miles. it doesn't leave the fields/woods much anymore though (farm truck, usually found with a full load of wood or hay).

yeah, i'm in a ford family :D

thanks everyone!

more pics

Here it is pulling around my Bronco II (I have to drag it into the carport for some of the work)

Alright, couldn’t take it anymore. I just can’t leave a rig stock. So I welded up my Flowmaster from my old Explorer Sport.

Luckily, only the turn-down tip had to be welded. I tried to grind out the old weld, turn it, and re-weld it, but that didn’t happen. The rust was stronger. So I booger-welded it back, and cut it off further down. Then I turned that piece and booger-welded it at the right angle. Made a bracket, and bolted it on.

Luckily, the chunk of old pipe on the Flowmaster slid right into the F-150 pipe, and I clamped it down. So that leaves my stock exhaust ready to slide back on if I ever get rid of the truck.

I’m not sure I want to take pics of my welding, haha. It holds, but leaks some. Since it’s only a short turn-down after the muffler, I don’t think I’ll worry about it right now.

It’s a good sound. Quiet at idle, little rumble on acceleration. Barely noticeable at cruising speed, these trucks are well made! I like to be able to hear the motor just a little.

btw, is this an appropriate place for a "build thread"? I like to keep a detailed account of mods i do (even though this truck doesn't really have any yet)

yeah, there's quite a bit of open space without the tach. its an option on the XL, but not standard. this truck has VERY few options, but its got the ones that i want.

i would like cruise though. i've been researching it, and it looks like all i need are a couple junkyard/feebay parts. then take it to a dealer and have the computer re-flashed to recognized the cruise.
