I can't even believe this year I'm buying a non-resident deer tag to hunt my home state... Michigan. I've been to deer camp in northern Michigan several years since I moved... but honestly the hunting was really poor for many many years in that area. This has held me back from buying a tag to hunt with friends and family. They would hunt and I would go fishing. There was always a few coho and steelhead for the taking. Honestly... the hunting has gotten much better with antler restrictions and doe management and I've seen better deer then I've ever seen come from that area in decades. To top it off... the license fees dropped this year from $300 to $171. It's still $15 for a three day all species fishing license... so I will have to pack some fishing gear too. Lots of coyotes around also so I usually set a trap or two but might put a bit more effort in this year.

Before talking to my BIL today.... I was making a turkey and watching the Lions lose on Thanksgiving. Now I will be eating a turkey club sub at deer camp and watching the Lions lose.

The lions are the greatest football team in history.

I tend to agree... but they would get the recognition if they could win a few football games!

Too many animals In this thread. Deer. Fish, coyotes, lions, BIL's

My FIL wanted to go hunting with us a few years ago, out of state was like $400. He didn’t really care if he got anything or not... so that died on the vine.

I haven’t been for a couple years, I am going this year. Looking like the last year we will have grandpas farm to hunt.

Sad day indeed selling off grandpas farm... I remember the day that my family farm was sold. It stuck when I seen new construction homes going in. I still have the memories.

My goal would be to bring home 50lbs of venison for my freezer... I'm going to have to look into the rules for transporting game across state lines. I'm pretty sure I can't bring back a whole animal... as long as I can process it and bring it home in coolers I'm OK. My BIL seems to think I can't even do that. Depending on what the rules say... I may not buy a license after all.

I'm sure the salmon are leaking milt and spawn all over the place this time of year.

We got two in state deer tags this year. I'll probably try for another big doe.

I've never hunted out of state. I want to line up a hog hunt at my buddy's place in Texas.

I jinxed myself . I actually bought a home state hunting license , for probably the first time this century . ( Don't need a Lic on my own property .)

As soon as I did that , five ( and counting ) priority automotive projects back to back , and waiting their sequence . I'm going to have to work OT every remaining day of the year to cover everything , no goofing off to go to the other part of the state where I have scouted out deer, turkey, and bear .

Some y'all should come up here - 21 deer between town and in-laws farm. Couple whitetail bucks will unreal racks - at least 12 points.

I just avoided putting 100+ lbs of venison on Ranger's grill 3 or 4 times..

Oh come on, even at lower velocities it is hard to argue with the effectiveness of a 28,000,000 grain bullet...
