Our dog died last night :(

Jim & Vanessa so sorry to her about your loving dog Montana I know how you must feel as I had to have a black lab put to sleep & I had her from a pup to the age of 14, was like loosing a teenager

this was a bad weekend for dogs. i lost my gfs dog thurs night. luckily found her fri. then last night my 11 week old puppy started walking around like she was drunk and throwing up and had problems standing and couldnt keep her tongue in her mouth. luckily my gf works as a vet tech so we got her into her work late last night and got her taken care off and she is fine this morning.

but i am really sorry to hear about your dog. i remember i wrote about my last dog dying on here about a year ago and everyone was so nice and understanding on here. losing my last dog was probably one of the worse things i have even been through.

people have no idea how much dogs mean to the owner. you see that dog every single day. its whole life depends on you. it eats when you feed it, it goes to the bathroom when you let it out, it doesnt go anywhere unless you go with it. nothing else in the world is with you that much or relies on you that much.

and here is some info on a tree i was going to get for my last dog you might want to look into. its called an autumn brilliance serviceberry tree. it is native to ohio. in the spring and summer it grows white flowers and has berrys on it and in the fall it turns bright bright red. http://www.monrovia.com/plant-catalog/plants/92/autumn-brilliance-apple-serviceberry.php

Thank you to everyone that sends their best. This is the first time looking at this thread since it happened. I couldn't bring myself to do it 'till now. I have to say, I had a hard time reading everything posted with tears in my eyes.
I had got Montana from a animal shelter when I moved to Ohio. When I first saw him I knew I had to have him. He had such a loving, caring and soulful look in his eyes and felt like he was something special. I don't believe in reincarnation but he almost made me believe the first time I saw him. He just had such a special look in his eyes and the first time I went up to him, he stood up and put his pretty white paws around my waist and layed his head on my stomache like he was hugging me. He loved to hug. I miss how every time I'd pet him, he'd grunt like he was trying to talk to me. I miss his hugs and his kisses. I miss petting him when I come home from work. He was only 8. It's not fair!! He still had so much life he could've lived.
I know the hardest thing with all of it was burying him. I don't think I ever cried so much for so long. I cried the whole time we made the hole and even harder covering him up. Jim has been so wonderful and caring through all of this with me. Thank you for that baby. You are such a good friend and always trying to make me feel better when I'm down. Your words have helped even if you dont realize it. I love you and so did Montana.
Thanks again everyone.

Def very sorry to hear. It's always painful losing a pet. I lost one in 09 due to parvo. Sad to see them go through any sort of pain or discomfort.

Jim and Vanessa,

My condolences for the loss of your family member. It's never good to see a pet go. Just keep in mind that you have your whole TRS family here for you.

First let me say ive put dogs down, some that were with me from before i started school till after i graduated and i know it sucks, but after reading that i have a question without trying to be an @ss.

Do you have your grandparents and other dead relatives buried in front of the farm, its totally illegal to bury your dog on your property like that in california, but i went to missouri once and was mortified driving down the farm roads and every single house not in a track development had like 10 crosses right in front by the street in their own little creepy cemetery plot.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. We had to put one of ours down today due to his throat was swelling shut and breathing problems plus was getting huge tumor like buldges on his body. We had his since 2001. I will say the house just doesnt seem the same anymore without him and his bark will be missed.

I have lost a few dogs in my life and it is one of the hardest thing to go through.

The 13 of August is the one year mark when I did the same for my old boy Loco. Takes a man and a strong women to do the correct thing, not take the easy way.

He'll be there for you when it's your time.

Well.... It is not illegal in Ohio. The vet's office gave us the option of taking him home to bury him. And no, we do not have a cross or anything like that where he is. A visitor wouldn't know where he was unless we told him. He's beside the house close to us and we are doing landscaping there and we are just gonna put a pretty white flowered bush or something there. And no I don't bury family members in the yard, that's totaly different. We don't have some creepy pet cemetery in our yard. It was a very respectful thing we did for him. He loved living there so it only seemed like the right thing to do.

I'm so sorry to hear that

We have buried out cats and dogs on our properties and it was never illegal. We lived in a few different states and every vet gave us our babies back to take home for their final journal.

I don't see why it would be offensive to anyone that we want our pets buried at our house. I wanted to get him cremated but it was gonna add another $180 to the bill. I was getting so pissed off at the vets office with how much they raped you as soon as you walk in the door. $110 just to look at the dog, another $70 for 1 xray, another $70 to to him to sleep. They know when your pet's on it's death bed, you'll spend whatever you can to keep your pet alive.

Jim and Vanessa, i am very sorry to hear about Montana. I too like so many others here have been through it and i know how hard it can be. I was lucky enough to be my Buster's human for 14 years.
