i bought a 1988 ranger XLT and it had the original cassette AM/FM radio in it, i have 3 questions about this. (1) i have a kinda of fuzzy radio connection, it isn't too bad but every now and again it will get worse, i have not experienced this in my other vehicles. is this caused by the stereo being old or the antenna connection to the back not being fully inserted? (2) with the cassette i have a cassette to mp3 adapter and when i used it with my ipod i had to crank both the stereo and the ipod to full volume to be able to hear it and that without the engine running, i have not tried moving the mp3 cable to the other side of the cassette and plugging it back in, i don't think that would work any better. (3) with the clock it is very dim and when i turn on the headlamp switch and turn the dimmer all the way to the brightest setting the clock still doesn't brighten up, is this cause by the age of the stereo? thanks to everyone who looks, and sorry for being naive i am not very tech savvy

age dude. i have a cassette player that worked great from an early 90s f150. if you want it let me know. its just sitting on the shelf right now.

Just throw a cheapo AM/FM-CD-AUX stereo in there from wally world. Should work better than that one either way.

You can go to a local pawn shop and pick one up for like 20 bucks that will work better not too bad on price

ya figured the radio was going out, but no problem won't be hard to replace, thanks guys
