I have a yellow top Optima and having a problem with it keeping a charge. I can trickle charge it overnight and it will read 12.6 volts. Two days later it will read 11.4. Battery is sitting on the wodden work table in the garage. Battery is around a year old. I dont have the receipt to take it back. Anybody else haveing trouble with these batterys? If I replace it it wont be with Optima. 2nd battery failure that I have had with Optima

They are not what they used to be.......I have 3 in the warehouse waiting on warranty(a little over a year old).
We do not stock them anymore........and yes I am a authorized dealer.

same story here. we used to sell a ton of them, but over the last 2 years almost all of them we have sold have come back defective. the quality control has definately gone down the crapper!

Its sad to,they really made a good product before they were bought out buy JCI.

note to self. Do not buy an optima now. I was wanting one, but I guess now I know not to buy one. I always heard ( a yr or so ago ) how good they were.

Shucks,and I just bought a blue-top at cost-co

You wouldnt want to take one back without the receipt are you? Help a brother out?

Were you the original buyer of the battery? If so contact them with the product code handy and maybe you will get lucky.

I wish I could help you but you say the word Optima around the owner and his blood pressure goes up 20 points!

Where did you buy it? I know Advance Auto stores anything with a warranty under the customers phone # so there is no need to keep track of the receipt.

we get a lot of optimas coming back bad too. almost all of them less than a year old. the only thing optima does good now is marketing apparently

wow, didn't realize optima had gone downhill this bad. oh well, i gave 7+ year old yellow top to my mom for her "new" 66 stang. that battery lasted through 3 of my previous rigs and is still going strong

I have a Red top from 05 in my Ranger, its the third truck it has been in.

Not a fan... I like the construction but we raped those things in my dad's jetboat. Couldn't keep them in there for one trip even.

Solution:

Bi-Mart battery.

Going strong for over a year now.

I mean, I'd like a redtop and a yellowtop dual set up, but I'm likin this deka (thanks again copperhead :icon_thumby: ) so I may just stick with em.

the older ones are pretty solid batteries. just not the ones made recently

Hello

Check out Exides orbital batterys. I have a deep cycle from the thats 3 years old. I did kill it last winter where it dropped down to 8 volts. (forgot my stereo was on). I recharged it and its still over 13 volts.
