Opinions on this...PA 3inch Body lift


A lot of people on here run that body lift. Its a good brand. My opinion though, ive never been much for body lifts. Something about seeing the frame sitting at stock height with the truck three inches above it just doesnt look that good to me.
 
a suspension lift is in the future, but I was looking at the body bushings and the look pretty toasted so I figured since I was going to replace the bushings, I might as well do the lift....
 
I put in a 2" and I would do it again but I would'nt go 3" because Dont want my stick shift any shorter and it leaves a gap between the bumper and the body.I've done quite a bit of work and the extra clearance has really made that easier.The other thing that I like is I was able to mount my winch behind the bumper so it's not sticking out.

body lifts in my opinion, with these trucks, are an absolute necessity with engine swaps and the like. Yea you can squeeze them in with out them (barely) but the extra space makes it a walk in the park. Plus the opportunity for bigger tires never hurt anything..
 
I also have the shifter extension on my wishlist with Summit too.I remembered people saying that was needed. As far as the body gaps go...not really concerned about it. Do I need anything to extend the gas filler neck?

I have that body lift on my BII. i wasnt wanting to go that big but a guy wanted to trade for some wheels I had. It did help in dropping in the 4.0. Filler neck wasnt a problem. Plenty of slack in the filler neck. Just loosen the pipe clamp. You will need to lengthen some ground straps. Steering ext that comes with the kit works great. You will neeed a shifter ext. I made mine.
 
Good deal...ordering the poly bushings at the same time to make life easier...

I had to extend my fill neck, steering, and shifter. It took some trimming around my shifter boot mount (the plastic thing, it doesn't show the boot covers it) btw: watch your ac line.

If your going to do a BL..... do it right, gap-guards (you don't want people looking straight through your fenderwells it looks shi##y) and bumper relocation brackets if you plan on towing.......... get a reciever hitch and channel it a couple in.

The age of BL's looking like crap are over........

The only thing I had to extend was my 4x4 shifter. I have yet to make my rear bumper which will make the original receiver look ok, but it is on the to-do-list. I had to make a front bumper bracket (they are not available for 1st generation trucks)

I didn't bother with gap guards, IMO they look tackier than just having a space... just a hunk of plastic with their only obvious purpose to prevent light from going thru. I did make something similar in concept for the front end though to keep mud/water out of the engine bay out of old tractor inner tubes and pop rivets though.
