Ok, I am now looking for a muffler for the Ranger. I was advised by the guy who built the engine that a Dynomax will probably sound best on it. He was less than specific about a particular model.

So who likes what? I have a Thrush glass pack that I took off of the truck, but I'm kinda wanting a new sound for it. I like the mellow rumble that my B2 has, but I think it's an off-brand muffler that won't do what I want with the headers on the Ranger.

I've got a custom side dump set up with a Flowmaster Delta 44 on my Ranger, sounds like an old Chevelle 454 with an exhaust leak according to my buddy. dad's got a Dynomax cat-back on the Cherokee and that sounds pretty good. I knew another guy that put a side dump dynomax on his 92 Ranger and it had a pretty good sound too. Personally I like the exhaust a little louder so the set up on my truck I really like.

Yea I've been considering a dynomax since I had one on an old car I had and even made that 4 banger sound good without being too ricey. I love the big sound of flow-masters but I just think it sounds dumb on a ranger that doesn't have the power to back up the sound, plus it tends to drone after a while.

i had a dynomax on the 4.0 and it sounded like shit i hated it but i had no cat and headers so there was no backpressure so maybe thats why it sounded like crap. i took it off and installed a 2.5 pipe with a flowmaster super 10 and it sounds bad ass now. little loud buts its not a dd so i dont care i still cant hear it over the stero lol. but if any body wants a dynomax cat back only a few months old i will give it them if they come and get it.

hmmmm

yeah....i forget about the v6 thing.

dynomax for v8's.

the sound of a v6 makes me ill....rather not hear it at all....i would keep those stock.

I have a FM40 on mine and it sounds pretty good for a sixer. All my friends say they can hear me pulling up the driveway.

The right sound

My stock exhaust system is on its last leg, so I did some research here and there to decide on my next system. For me, the Dynomax had the best sound at idle and during operation from the various Youtube videos I watched and listened to. I'm just looking for something that might improve exhaust flow more so than for the rumble it might yield, but I definately don't want something that is loud and obnoxious. I also don't want to turn up the volume on the stereo to drown out the drone of some exhaust/muffler solutions I listened to.

Good luck on finding the right solution for you.
