Opinions On Buying A Suzuki Samurai

I do dig the 80's Chevy K5 Blazers, its about finding a good one for the price.

It is hard to argue about the potential with one of them, parts are everywhere.

I prefer the looks of the 70's-early 80's ones with the round headlights. Dad has a '80 K20, I love the rugged look of the thing (his '80 F-350 is more aggressive looking though)

I love em, when the carb craps out put a weber on it or buy a fuel inj model. Ive seen several swaps, VW diesel, mazda rotary, 4.3v6. I'd love to do mine as a diesel..

I wheeled last weekend with one, it had the stock motor, 8.8 rear and a d44 front. Don't know the gearing but it was able to run around with the custom frame trucks on rockwells all day long. If they're done right they can run everywhere a built truck can. Being super light is a huge advantage.

It seems like the samurai would be lots of fun, but I've been looking into the K5 Blazer, I like having that extra room in the back as well and being able to remove the rear shell on warm days. But it is big and bulky but the parts would be more common.
This would be nice, having that extra visibility for wheeling isn't bad either.

I've got some time to think about what I want, and what will be on the market.

Ok now you are looking at K5 Blazers. the military used them alot back in the day...
so quit beating around the bush and get a real truck! great for offroad or heavy traffic or even a zombie apocalypse!
or...just cruzing to the local WaffleHouse to eat.

They run on anything...and can be bought very very cheap!
Deuce 1/2 Bobber! ( bobber removes one of the rear axle's ..move the other forward and cut off the remaining rear frame)

My grandpa has one, and M39 6x6, they are true beasts, they run on almost anything and are pretty indestructible, he has a crane on it to pick up hay bales and stuff, it's cool. I know there really cheap and there are plenty of them but maybe just a little to big lol. Also I couldn't really tow it around lol.
Oh yeah, despite my username, I actually hate Wafflehouse.

zuk's are cool rigs.... when money is spent to make them that way lol. stock form you cant really do much due to weak motors, axles, etc.

but they can be made pretty awesome. i was contemplating getting one to. but i found better things to spend money on.

For me I really wanted something I could make a project out of, and that I can learn off of and work on my fabrication and other skills, I like older stuff because it seems easier to work on, something old, but not too old. I can't really tear up my ranger and do what I want to it because I have to have it as a DD, and my willys I plan on restoring so I don't want to bang it up more. I'd like to have a nice trail rig I put my own time and effort into building.
My friend had pointed out to me the K5 blazers as an alternative, and I dunno, there's just something I like about them..
The suzukis are cool, but that beefy v8 though..

Haha yeah I'm not a chevy guy but the k5's are badass.
I get what ya mean man. I was looking for the exact same thing. Actually found a zuk I was ready to buy. Had cash and everything but then life happened, things pop up and needed to put it on hold.

Now my plan is to SAS the ranger once its paid off. I'm sure that plan will change as well.

I've decided to play it smart and wait till summer, by then I hopefully with have a job so I can have income for the project, as well as time to work on it, but the downside is that some of the vehicles I want to look at may not be on the market anymore.

My BIL used to have a Tracker. It had an old school 3spd auto. and something like 4.56 gears. It ran pretty good . About the only 30 mpg beach buggy. Suzuki used to make a 4 wd pickup that looked like a 7/8 scale Willys PU. Thats what I really want.:D

Suzuki still make new model Samurais, just not available in the states. Comes with shackle reversal, tubo diesel, and are just BA.

I would buy one of these in a heart beat....
