Looks like a good truck. $4500 doesn't seem like too unreasonable of a price for it. I wouldn't have paid what he was asking in the beginning. That seemed a little high for me. What are your plans going to be for it?

It'll be my dd. Gonna fix the dent in the driver side front fender, sand the scratches out then take it to maco for a cheap paint job. I'm just lookin to clean it up. Not show room clean just nice. It has the annoying ass spontaneous wiper issue so that'll be one of my very first things to fix. Read on here it's basically just dirty in the switch. I'll get a can of electrical cleaner and a tube of dielectric grease when I pick it up cuz it'll drive me insane! But then I'll build a front bumper cuz I'm not a fan of the stock ones.

Spontaneous wiper issue? Are they just randomly coming on? Mine did that for a while and I couldn't figure out why. I looked for faulty wires leading to the motor and just about everything else, but didn't think about the contacts on the switch being dirty and causing a false relay for them to come on.

Yep I test drove it and over a 2 mile drive they came on 3 times lol.

I guess I'll have to check out the switch on mine when I start working on it again and see if I can get it cleaned up. Them randomly coming on bugged me really bad because I had no idea when they would come on and I needed new wipers so they would just whine back and forth across the windshield until they decided to turn themselves back off.

I don't know what year ranger the original poster is talking about and I would hate to be the bearer of bad news; but, the wiper problem could be caused by the GEM (general electronic module). Look here at all the stuff it controls http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1725290

I had some of the same problems you mention (doors would just lock or unlock, wipers would come on and them go off, etc.). I just decided to live with it because it is an expensive part, hard to get to, and has to be flashed to your vin number.

Anyway, I had to replace the battery about a year ago due to age (low voltage; but, truck still started fine). When replacing the battery it was out of the truck for about 3 hours. The good news was all the GEM problems just went away with the battery change and have not returned.

Anyway, just FYI, Ed

I sure hope it isn't that bad! I only saw the wipers mess up.

Mine is just the wipers. I have manual locks and windows.
