why rule out the phoenix gold? there going to deliver the sound you need. and have the bass you want.
what 4x4 fun was trying to say was with just a headunit, you wont have a speaer that will deliver bass and have loud highs. the headunit will distort by then.
but that happens with lower end lower bass handling speakers like sony or dual ect.
i would run the setup i linked. those comps have very nice bass just off the headunit power.
and add the 6x9s behind the seat and you will be surprised how it sounds.
the components i linked have a tweeter seperate from the woofer with allows the woofer to produce more bass while the tweeter gives you the nice detailed highs.
in a standard cab, you dont need alot to sound good.
Well the Phoenix Gold RSD690 says its rated at 80 RMS per speaker, while the V690 I was looking at is 50 RMS per. If Im pushing 17-22 RMS out of a HU its not really going to be putting the RSD into its sweet spot is it? Its not so much "ruling them out" as it is looking for something more matched.
I'll have to look into the component set-up, because I was just looking to go with what I originally planned for and dont know much about them.
Im not expecting the 4 inch to thump, just hold their own. I can get by with that. Maybe my idea of jamming 5.25s in there should be brought out of mothballs though.
