yeah there not terrible.

they used to be great before there xplod line.

but atleast with the link i showed, its a cheap system to have music, and be able to upgrade without having a ton of money into what you got now.

and ill never buy another pioneer form wally, there just not the same.

bondo, if you want a cheap system, here ya go

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/prod...03322-module203326-rLink2&product_id=12531485

its def. not the best. but, ive bought these every year, and they work fine. the headunit is nice. the speakers are decent, but its sony, so there not the best.

cut holes in you doorpanels for the 6 1/2's and put the 6x9's behind your seats, and your truck will sound good.

put the door speakers towards the front, under the window crank handle. theres plenty of room there.

dont laugh everyone, im buying this setup for my car, because im broke, and would rather save for the ranger, than put a system in a 300 dollar car.
I was looking at those bundle deals, but I dunno. Kinda want to get a little higher quality so I can just do this once and move on to other wants/needs with this truck.

I was playing with the idea of door speakers though, so maybe that wouldnt be a bad deal after all. (Although Im leaning towards what I posted above)

Anybody used Road Gear? The head in my truck looks like it should say Fisher Price on it.

trust me, the sony bundle is fine. the headunit alone is worth the price of the speakers. its 90.00 shipped, plus if ya wanted the speakers i got, its 120.00 shipped.

thats a very cheap system. and will sound decent.

what is fine is very relative, if its just music, and it fits what you want to spend, cool.

but if your looking to keep up with some of us audiophile's, whos trucks revel, imax theaters, then your perseption of fine is a lil different lol

but good luck

Well I would love to have an ultra great system, because I do love my music. (played drums for 23 years) I just dont have the cash to do it. Im looking for that happy medium though and I am willing to buy peicemeal to get decent stuff that will not annoy the hell out of me every time I get in the truck.

well this is wat i would do.

Your headunit is EVERYTHING! so invest in it.
Component speakers sound better than 6x8s or any oval speaker for that matter but if you dont want to spend the extra cash to get components jsut get a nice set of coaxials but still get round speakers..
AMP YOUR SPEAKERS!!!!! headunits will only put out about 20 watts per speaker and most quality speakers will handle around 65.

Buy an adpater or make your own like these: these have the spot for the tweeter too but if you want coaxials just get em without the tweeter spot or just simply not sue the tweeter spot.

for 6.5s get these:

for 5.25s get these:

and for the amp i would look into Hifonics and Fusion for cheap amps...dont get Pyramid and thsoe other flea market brands. something like this will work fine:

then a simple 4 awg amp kit to put the amp in like this one:

x1million, the more capable the brain, the better the end result, how ever alot of money doesnt have to be spent, $150-300 depending on what your looking for and the name.

comp, sound better then coax and give you more dta control yes, but the 6x9 thing is just silly, and 6x9 can be had in both comp and coax. depending on speaker locations and size they can be 6-2-1 half doz to another. but upgrading or modding to get 6x8-9 is also unneeded

AMP YOUR SPEAKERS!!!!!

blend your sound. 6000w of bass and 20w of highs is stupid. 300watsissh of base like a single 10, and unamped speakers and produce a very well rounded sound, more so if your HU has digital cross overs, knowing the right settings makes a better system then being able to magnetize your self with an EMI field

and as far as brands go. every one has what they like, every brand has that one model that just sucked and they try and forget about. when you go buy one ask around see what you like. and we will tell you if your about to cross the "thats just crap" line

i kno from my experience(using 6x8s then switching to round) that the round dont distort as easy and just have overall better sound quality. andi believe in amping speakers regardless if you ahve a substage or not. but if your gonna have a substage you NEED to amp the speakers (personally i have 1k wrms substage and 210wrms of mids/highs and its pretty well balanced.

Im not sure what the hell to do......

the stuff i posted will get decently loud and sound good doing it......cant got wrong with RE.

Thanks for the info.

I dont really want/need an amp, just a decent head unit and 6x9s.

im describing fine as someone just wanting better music in there truck.

no this will not do it for an audiophile, but its a step in the right direction.
