This is a picture of my 1982 Mustang GL it has a straight 6 automatic trans, and in the background is my brothers 1986? bronco XLT it had a 351W 4x4 auto trans, as far as i know it wasn't lifted but not sure. I was wondering what your opinion is on bother vehicles, i don't have any more on the bronco but it was pretty nice.

I think it depends on what your use of a vehicle is... Do you have more use for a car or truck

I like em both! Nothing wrong with a strait six under the hood of that mustang. As long as you aren't trying to act like it's a racecar.

I'd drive either. Id like to have both. One for trails and stuff and the other for a DD

ya the truck is my brothers and the car is mine, he used it for a bit of mud bogging ect. i couldn't ever act like a racer in that slug though, at 90 horsepower not counting age issues and other load causing objects, it barely gets on the freeway XD. the crew cab is the background is a very nice truck, if it is the one i am thinking of it is lifted and itt is a ford 3 on the tree, dunno much else.

here is 2 more of the bronc from one of the four wheeling adventures my brother went on

I would get rid of the 2WD Ranger and get a 4x4 Ranger. Fix the 4x4 Ranger up it to a modest offroader that you could drive to and from the trail. Keep the Mustang and fix it up as an every day street car.

There are times I wish I had an older rear wheel drive car to drive around. The nice things about cars is you could fix one up a lot cheaper than you could build a decent off-road truck.

lol at the whitetrash donk

first off, i think i am happy with the 2wd ranger i don't plan to do any real offroading, second as for the stang it has a lot of issues and i would have to dump a lot of money into it, body work motor rebuild rust removal, ect. i have to replace the steering rack due to an inner seal leak then i plan to "gift" it to my oldest step- brother and his wife so they have a vehicle to get around in. it drives fine one the road as is but it needs PS fluid every so often and my brother dosent have the funds to pay for it.

You dont have to dump anything into the mustang except engine and drivetrain. Body work and all that stuff is hobby stuff. to an extent. It may only have 90 horsepower but a straightsix has better balance than any v-6 and way better reliabilty in the long run. Its a great DD to and once tuned up will be awesome on gas.

If you only plan on mild offroad (not any real offroading) you can always get a decent set of BFG all terrains for great street mileage and ok dirtgrabbing. And a locker for the rear. Itll be capable enough for anything you ever do. (for that matter a set of bfg's and a locker in that stang and itll be just as capable as the truck.

LOL My first car was an 86 4cyl 4 spd stang and I offroaded that bastard more than most trucks in my county. With open 7.5 it did pretty well.

nice, ya this motor is old and could use new gaskets all around but i have a 302 i am in the process of re-building ;) if i did decide to keep it i might work on throwing that in there, as for he truck i would put tires on and maybe a 1-2" life but thats just so i can go curb hopping and pass people to get into the turn lane :icon_twisted: i still would need to get money first, and it isn't a big priority to get done. im more concerned with fixing problems with my truck ie: squeaky belts, rusty hood/roof, and getting the firewall pad dry along with the carpet due to a heater core leak, slow going but it will get done eventually
