Only the volt gauge works, what's wrong?

Hi!

I bought a 1991 Ranger with the 2.3L Lima engine a couple of days ago and i can't get some of the gauges to work. Oiltemp is always above "H", watertemp is always at the bottom "C" and the fuelgauge just goes up and down randomly. The only working gauge is the voltgauge, which is pretty useless really.

Anyone got any ideas on what might be broken?

Fuel sender probably needs an $8 brass float replaced.

Might try a thermostat replacement to get your coolant temp to rise. Just be aware the 2.3 tends to run cold on the gage.

The oil pressure isn't so much a gage as a switch indicator. Above 8 psi, it reads mid-scale. If yours is the old TRUE pressure gage, you may need a new oil pressure sender, <$20.

Obviously, you should check all the fuses before going much further.

No one seems to sell thermostats for the Lima engine here in Sweden. Does the thermostat found in the 2.9L V6 work too? Is it the right size? We have ALOT of 2.9L V6's over here, so parts are easy to find for them.
