I'm posting this where I frequent, which is Explorer Forum, RPS, and TRS. I don't have many posts under this handle on here, but I use the same avatar on EF where I have 3500+.
On March 29th I ordered a set of upper control arms that were 1/2 of the total control arm kit needed to lower a Ford Ranger Edge but keep the alignment straight.
April 5th was when he finally processed the order, after having to message him on Facebook to verify it went through. I did not hear from or speak to him for the next two weeks.
April 14th, I messaged on Facebook and asked if there was an ETA on the arms yet and he said there was not. He mentioned that there were orders ahead of mine, and I was okay with that. I figured 2-3 weeks and with it being nicer weather, figured there were people trying to get their trucks done. Okay, whatever.
May 2, Messaged again to ask about ETA of delivery, no response.
May 12, I asked how to place an order for the lower arms (also as another way of checking in to see what was going on with the other set of control arms). He mentions that he decided to rebuild his control arm jig. He mentions the orders that were ahead of mine were just about done.
May 17, I got an invoice via Paypal for the lower arms, on May 18 they were ordered and paid for.
May 26, I asked if the arms would all ship at once or would they ship in order of how they were paid for. No response.
June 8, I sent a simple "?" on messenger to get his attention. I was told his CNC machine had a computer malfunction but things seem to be working again. I again ask for an ETA and he replies that he's so busy he's about to shut down his web store so he can try to get caught up and finish a customer's car. I mention again that it's been almost 3 months and I paid "a large amount of money" and didn't think it'd take this long. He replies with more "I have to rebuild my control arm jig, I'm looking at another property."
After his last message, I asked that if the arms had not been started could I just get a refund? I was told then that the lower arms were almost done and he's trying to get the uppers to go "by the end of next week." I told him I could do that.
June 15, I messaged to ask if the arms would be finished by week's end. No reponse.
June 17, I sent another "?" to see if he'd respond. No response. A half hour later I sent a message stating that if the arms were not shipped by 5PM and I did not have trackign information, I needed a refund and that I couldn't wait any longer. He responded that he was waiting on a supplier shipment and that it wouldn't arrive until June 22. I responded that I still needed a refund. I explained that I couldn't wait any longer and that I started the dispute process with my credit card company and paypal for undelivered items. Later that night he messaged and said that my wait time wasn't that bad and that other companies have 6 or even 9 month wait times. I explained that he should've made the timeline clear at the beginning and not 3 months later, I went on to explain that if he would issue refunds I would end the disputes and we could resolve it peacefully. It was only then that I was informed that the lower control arms were finished, but he was awaiting ball joints.
I tried to support a small and a local forum member's business. It has been three months since the original order was place come June 29. I am extremely disappointed that I spent $1000 with someone who is well known on the forums only to be given excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't get it done. He mentioned twice about rebuilding his jig, a month apart from each mention. All I want is my money back so I can find someone else that will get it done within a reasonable amount of time. Had I known how long it was going to take, I would've never ordered. Just trying to get a refund at this point.
I just wanted to share my experience with everyone. Make your own conclusions.
