I`m not sure I put this in right forum, sorry if I didn`t.Apparently in my area one piece `98 or newer shafts are like gold.If you can find one,the junkyards want $250 or more.I guess I`ll put a brand-new 2pc in for less $.I was shocked at the prices for a one piece.I hate California more+more!:shok:

You can have built for cheaper then that. Ur not far from any other city around there u can look in cheaper junk yard

buy one off the classifieds here, even with shipping it would still be less

I payed for $250 for my first stock 98 steel shaft.

When I mangled it wheeling I had one built with thicker tube and a smaller diameter. That shaft cost me $300 and I reused the slip spline and ends from my old 2 piece shaft.

My local driveline shop WON'T build me one with a smaller shaft diameter and thicker wall. Some bowl sheet about its too long....A$$e$.

The only thing mine wouldn't guarantee that it would be perfectly balanced at high speeds....but so far so good 3 years later still.

I literally took in my old 2 piece shaft and my buggered up 1 piece shaft and told them I wanted one the same length as the 1 piece but made to use all the bits off the 2 piece so it would be a smaller diameter but with as thick of a tube as they had.

I need to move elsewhere.

I basically did they same thing, but only verbally to get a quote. I was gonna bring them a two piece and the one piece and have them make a bastard-line from the two. He told me no way no how....too long and that it was grenade itself. Now I am wondering what kind of rehtarhd he was....

OP, drive up to one of the JY here in the Sacramento area, they want between $90 and $110 round these parts. Call first though lol....

60-80 bucks here in wisconsin. lol the only issue for me was to find the right custom u-joint to adapt the 98+ aluminum shaft to a 90 tranny yoke. sense the aluminum shaft was bigger in diameter. precision does make the u-jount to fit though.
