So, in the process of tearing my dash apart to check the control for the heater blower I found the antennae for my radio was disconnected...thought I stuck it in there pretty good, but obviously not...now I can get AM in the morning and practically all day...which surprised me because I thought it was only morning radio...

Anyhow, I have a CD player from my Zuki that I wanted to install into the Ranger but have been reluctant because there are more wires on this one than I have on my AM/FM/Cassette Ford stock unit.

Was wondering if anyone else hooked up one similar...it's an older Pioneer with the remote control (why, I do not know, but it has a remote control...like is someone going to go outside the vehicle to change the station?)...and the part that threw me was a wire for remote control...

WTF? Did I leave something inside the Zuki that I should have taken out to get the remote control to work?

Anyhow, I don't really need the remote, but thought if I didn't hook it up then something isn't going to work right...

TIA

A wired remote was probably an option and was sold separately. You don't need it. Or are you sure you're not looking at the "remote turn-on lead" for an amplifier?

Not for an amp...it says on a little sticker attached to the wire "Remote Control"...but I don't remember even cutting that wire when I removed the stereo...

they also have them at wal mart for like 7 bucks. and the remote wire is for an amp to turn it on when the cd player switches on.

Hmmmm...thanks for the link...I've actually got the clip from the back of the stereo and the wires all seem to be marked...I guess I was just thrown off by the tags since I'm used to like eight wires max and this one has about fifteen...

And I have no idea what to connect that remote wire to on my truck stereo wiring harness (original from Ford)...

That and having to pull the dash apart again...the CD player was acting funny the last couple of times I used it before the Zuki died, but it otherwise worked...it would come up with ERR 11 and not do anything...but that was usually when it was really cold...so maybe it was trying to say BRRR or something...

Then its for a wired remote. Since your truck doesn't have any wired remote, just don't hook it up to anything. Do the same for any other extra wires you have. Just tape them off and leave them alone.
