I am sure that I have a problem with the shift motor. a few of the wires are cracked on the insulation. It is currently stuck in low. But one thing that is not familiar is that the lights in the push button and dash to say it is in 4wd are not working either. I plan on cleaning up the shift motor this weekend but the light thing has me a little worried. any ideas or will the lights work right when the motor is fixed? 94 ext cab 4.0 5 speed. shift motor replaced about 6 years ago. I think I covered everything. Thanks guys. Ho yah!

Remove the shift motor and put it in 2Hi manually.

Remove that one wire from the connector with a jewelers screwdriver, fix the motor at the workbench.
