Getting prepped to convert to duraspark ignition but I am confused about the carb. I have a motorcraft 2150a carb w/ feedback control. What does the feedback controller do? Also there is a pump relief valve (which pump, fuel or accelerator?) on the front next to the accelerator pump w/ a vacuum line to one of the EEC solenoids. After sitting in a barn for a few years, I doubt any of the EEC system functions at all (Hence the conversion). Can I use the 2150a carb or do I need the 2150 w/o feedback control? I'm tight on money right now so I'm looking to save where I can. These are the only differences I can see on the 2150a; Can I disable them and use it with duraspark ignition?

The feedback solenoid on the back of the carb leans out the mixture. You can replace it with a manual metering block. Easily made in half an hour or less with hand tools.

You can use the feedback carb you just run ignition vacuum advance off of the manifold vacuum tree. The valve on the front of the carb all it does is turn off the accelerator pump when vacuum is applied. Get some #42 jets and put them in that carb set the timing at exactly 10 degrees with the vacuum disconnected and plugged. Pull the idle control motor off the front bottom of the carb and just use the idle stop screw on the side. Connect the vacuum advance then set the idle air needles for the highest possible rpm and then adjust the idle speed around 700 rpms.

Thank you for your help!
Conversion complete! It's like a brand new truck!
Double the power and mpg it used to get.
