old school guage set location?

I've always wanted them in my personal vehicle. looks like the best location is under the ash tray in front of the shifter? I've seen pillar mount... don't like that.
I actually did new gauges for my boat awhile back. So I don't think it's all that different on the truck right? Oil, water, and volt.

That's what I did. I found some holes under my dash that had some screws in them already and used those for mounting the pod.

I'll a look around for a set, I'm still counting pennies to do the engine swap, and I know they aren't really necessary on a computer-controlled engine even of that vintage.
I was pretty proud of this, sold the boat not too long after. And the gauges were smaller part of rewiring the diesel engine, two battery banks with an automatic charging relay and isolated circuit battery switch.
