Well my 2.0L bit it last sunday. I had a loss of power that friday before, ithought it mght have been water in the fuel. Then i thought it might have been back pressure. Well to make a long story short i was driving her kind of hard and she popped and shut off and never started back up. I thought maybe it had jumped timing, no that was not the case. After find out that the distributor's gear retaining pin snaped i turned the distributor in for a waranty return and timed everything perfect and nothing. checked compression cylinder 3 had read only50 and the other 100 to 125. I am going to start the rebuild after my wedding this week. I am hoping I can just hone the cylinders and replace the rings but we will see. if the cylinder walls are too scared then i am going to bore it.
Which brings up the question where can i get just a bottom end rebuild kit?

Try Northern Auto Parts.

Congrats on the wedding Dan!

Anyway...why not just find a 2.3 short block and rebuild that? You may even find a low mileage one that you can just plunk in and be up and running...but re-ring would be a good way to get rid of that blow-by problem you were having...

Either way, it will be a better truck for the work you put into it...keep us posted on the honeymoon..lol...you wouldn't be the first to post from the honeymoon suite telling us what a blast it is being marred for life, er, married...:)

I use Northern for most of my street rebuilds! Buy a re ring kit, and add pistons, have it bored, theres no substitute for a clean strait bore! I also agree with getting a 2.3 and re building it.
