old people keep unplugging my truck

find out who it is, then find what car they drive and put black rtv under teh door handle followed by loosening the valve in A tire just to be a PITA

I've had my extension cord stolen a few times now. It's really annoying. But I'm too lazy to open my hood everytime I want to plug in my truck!!

Take some zipties and make loops on each cord that can't slide over the plugs. Then take a small lock and lock the zipties together.

I like that idea. It is simple and non-perament. So if they wanted to unhook it next time. They would have to work at it. Unless they are like me and always carry a multi-tool with them.

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl: FAIL!!! :icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

I don't live anywhere that is cold enough to warrant a block heater. That said, when I go to the 4.0, I plan to put one on anyway. They aren't that expensive, and so much easier to put in while the engine isn't in the truck. That way if I ever find myself in a situation where it might be appropriate, I already have it.

I'm sure there are lots of people that have never heard of a block heater. I'm also sure that there are lots of people that know something you don't. No need to give someone a FAIL for not knowing everything you do.

Ya that 1/2H per liter of displacement is BS.

When I start mine I wait till the oil pressure is at 50 PSI and if it's real cold then i wait for a bit till high idle comes down to around the 1000 mark.

I think he was referring to the time it takes for the block heater to heat the block, not length of time the engine should idle. That would just be ridicules! Haha!

To the OP: This story is hilarious! Sorry to laugh at something that's a pain in the ass for you, but even just the title is a crack up. Have you caught them yet?

-Chris

hey guys haven't caught them yet...haven't been home yet to see if its unplugged... Ill let y'all know

Where I live gets below freezing a couple times a year and never way below. I've never felt colder than 26F here. forgive me for not knowing people actually have to put a heater on their engines:icon_rofl:

Yeah, but I don't live in an area where it gets terribly cold, no one here uses block heaters except the diesel guys who are just over the top, even my little sister (who was confused by the need to rotate tires since they "rotate when you drive") knows what a block heater is for.

Okay, but do you have to be rude? I'm pretty sure YOU don't know everything.....right? Or do you? I've been a machinist/CNC mechanic for eight years and learn new things every day. Do you think my colleagues make fun of me for that? No, because we are adults. Well now Matt knows what a block heater is and I'm sure every time he thinks of one, he'll think of you and how rude you are. Good job!

I think there's a difference between thinking you know everything, and making a comment about somebody not knowing something that most people would consider *basic*

It's kind of like somebody owning and operating a computer for years, and yet they don't know what a CD-burner is. It's optional equipment, sure, but you'd think they would know what it was.

I'm willing to bet that more then half the drivers in the United states don't know what a block heater is. A block heater is a commonly know option for folks who have an application for it. A CD burner is also a commonly know option for someone with an application for it. The difference is that people all throughout the world have computers and only people in colder climates need block heaters.

My whole point is, why be rude? It's unnecessary and could make someone feel inferior. Why would anyone want to make someone feel inferior?

it's not necessarily that, people's initial reaction is shock, and that shock lends itself to ridicule.

If people took a step back to think about it before they hit submit, they may not say what they do. It's not that they want to make somebody feel inferior per se, just that it didn't immediately occur to them that they would, and pride would lend itself to not correcting yourself.

I see your point. The thing is that people come here to learn things about rangers. That's the major reasons this site was created isn't it? When adms08 brought his little sister in to the equation that triggered the thought in my head that he was intentionally putting mattpresley down. Basically saying something along the lines of: I know someone that doesn't know much and that person knows more then you. Pretty rude I think. Oh well. I guess I'm over it.
