Old men own rangers!?!

if its a 1st or second gen it usually has a cap and is driven by an old man, in my area that is.

Haha.
Yeah, old guys are heavy on the caps and Rangers in eastern Maine. You very seldom see an old guy in an S-10 for some reason - the stigma seems to be 17-20yo's for S-10s here (and to be honest, I'm not that old and wouldn't be caught dead in an S-10 or Dakota). Very few light trucks (and some heavy duties) look like trucks anymore or have the edge look that the Rangers do.
The middle age lobstermans favorite is the Sierra/Silverado. They out-number cars 2 - 1 around the shore of Maine.

That is definitely true! I see them in mostly Sunfires, Cavaliers, Imports, and other small compacts.

Just yesterday, this girl in an S-10, probably 18-20, Flew past me (And i was doing 5-10 over the speed limit) and cut me off while smoking and on the phone. She was within 4 inches of my bumper..... I got on the horn pretty quick! hah

Same goes for my sister, but she's dangerous in her mini-van....

thats when train horns come in handy!!!:bye:

The cars are almost always white too.:icon_confused:

that is so true!

I wish my family had something like that. I'm the only one in the family into cars and trucks other than my brother-in-law, But now that he has kids, he sold his nice rides.
My dad is a motorcycle nut (Harley's only). He has 5. One of which is a 10 second bike.

me and my family are into mustangs, and any other fords, my wife has '05 mustang v6, '91 LX, and a '96 explorer v8... i have '07 mustang, 1985 mustang and 1995 ranger....match made in heaven!!! and her dad has a '64 1/2 mustang drag car.:icon_thumby:

I'll be 45 next week. Is there anything wrong with an old fart like me driving this? :derisive:

NO! very nice! not every one falls into the steriotype!

All I have to say about all this "old" talk is,with age comes wisdom and this wise old man, (51 years) drives a Gen 1 Ranger without a top, and we don't get muddy.

This guy that i hunt with did something like that in his Dodge 2500, with 7 people holding guns, and a dead deer in the bed of his truck. I ended up dropping my gun to save my brother from falling off the side, my father almost fell off, and the guy whos property we were hunting on had his gun go flying as he grabbed for a 2x4 that was sticking up along the bed rail to save himself from going over.

We dont ride in the back of his truck anymore.
(this was going through the middle of a field, not on a road. It was either do that or walk over almost a mile to our trucks in below 0 degree weather)

old fart ha,ha

I'm 60 yrs and on my 2nd Ranger XLT. 4.0, 4wd, heavyduty receiver to pull my bike and boat trailers. Got 2 bicycle racks in the bed, so I can't use the topper. I will get muddy too. Old is the way to get retirement checks, not cut out the fun.:hottubfun:

Hell No! Haha, thats an awesome truck! My dad is 46 and I always laugh at him when he has to drive my truck, but he loves it, but any time we have to do work on it, he starts cussing at the body lift and the 6 in suspension lift. He always says I have never had to use a stool to work on an engine before, but he really likes the prerunner bar since he can use it to rest on haha. I guess he should be lucky I didn't have a 4x4 cause I'm sure it would be alot higher.

(hee hee) It seems some people my age are ready to put on slippers, a sweater, & sit in a rocking chair. Not me! That day might come but I'll put it off as long as I can :D I suppose I'll have this truck until I'm too old to hop up in it.

Thats a badass truck for any age! As long as you're not the kind of guy who does all the work for nothing, But I can tell from the picture, you USE it!

Yup, I use it. Personally, for me, I don't see the point in spending money for off road type mods & goodies if all I was gonna do is drive to the grocery store or the mall.

I probably fall into the stereotypical........."That guy will never grow up"........category. However, I do take care of my responsibilities first. Once those are handled, I have fun & enjoy life :D

Aside from the physical quirks when a person ages, you're only as old as you let yourself get. Most of the guys I wheel with are young pups. There's only a few I've been on the trails with that are my age.

Old, young,............doesn't matter.............take care of business first..........have your fun afterwards :icon_thumby:

I'm 47(48 on Flag Day) and I drive a '84 Bll, so I don't have to worry about a cap,lol. :taunt:

I'm 62 & just bought my first truck in October 2007. What's wrong with "the voice of experience" opting for a ranger?

, I see a few girls driving them too, but silly girls, trucks are boys..

my girlfriend resents that remark lol. she wants a ranger when we get outa college....a lifted ranger.....she likes mudding (good thing, she drives a friggin aveo right now....i hate that car:mad:.) and one of my co workers here (female, we're R.A's in the dorms) drives a mint 87 B2 and wants to lift it and put 35s on it haha

I am 60 and have owned a Ranger since 1989. I don't understand why anyone would think a Ranger is for young boys only. I do admit that I make my Ranger work and is not used only for show.

BTW, the shell is not just for show either. It opens up into a tent for camping. The shell also protects the equipment and gear that go along with me for my race car. It is usually empty otherwise. Sorry, I don't fit the stereotype.

I didn't mean for anyone to be upset when starting this post. Please, Don't be offended!!! I'm sorry if anyone was.

I don't see anyone as being up-set. Found it interesting just how many of us are over 60 and still like to play with our toys.

Thats good!
Recently I was at the autorama, here in Detroit, and it just kills me to see the "show" cars, that never see pavement (When they do, it's because it's going on or off a trailer.) I mean, It LOOKS good but lets see it run!!! I'm glad people on here USE their vehicles. They're meant to be driven! Have fun with it!
