Okay, What is it?

There is a small square electrical component on the drivers side on the intake manifold of the 2.9L with the Ford part number E6AE-9-J460 ATA. Ford could not find it, what is it?

That is the egr pressure sensor it gets connected to egr nipple at the base of the egr it tells the egr how far to open.

Thanks for the help, not every auto store shows this part for my vehicle. I found it on line seems to have been used in later model Aerostars.

As far as I have seen there isn't an egr on the 2.9. I sure don't have one on mine. And I think you are talking about the DPFE, and that is definitely not a DPFE sensor.

Disciple your right.....and wrong lol There isn't an egr on the later 2.9's. But those of us who have the earlier ones,mines an 87, get stuck with one

Guess I got lucky then. But thats still not the DPFE. I know that for sure. Guess I'll go look and see if I got that black box on mine.

The 86 and 87 2.9s have an EGR. While the later 2.9s don't, the earlier ones have a bigger throttle body

That sensor is the EGR sensor, I don't believe its a differential pressure sensor (DPFE) like the later Fords though, but its job is to detect whether or not the EGR valve is open and flowing.
