and my Ranger.
I can already tell that this site is going to be very helpful to me during the process of revamping my truck. There is an insane amount of helpful info here- on just about anything I can think to ask. It's great to have so many experiences, and opinions all together on the same site- way more helpful than reading manufacturers blurbs & the "unbiased" consumer reviews.
As you can see, I'm working with a stock 1993 Ranger XLT. She is brand new to me (ie: just drove home today) and I am already in love. Super solid truck with only 80K, one owner, no history of accidents, and all for a killer deal. I am absolutely satisfied with my purchase, and I have a whole lot of work to do.
Priority plans
- must level, almost looks like a swan dive in action right now doesn't it?
- have GOT to get some bigger tires on her. Trying to keep it inexpensive at the moment- so I'll be hunting for general purpose, good for everything, not 1 billion dollar mudders, able to drive on asphalt tires. (Plus, we are talking 2WD here)
- this was a NY truck- so although in great functioning condition..there is rust, lots of rust. The front half isn't so bad, but I am seriously considering just swapping the bed out as opposed to reconstructing corners, and sanding for the rest of my life. SO, will probably also be on the hunt for a compatible bed. I'll find out in the morning when I go out to really assess the rust situation.
- Fill, sand, and prime the craters that rust removal will create
- Once all the priming work is done, I'll paint her...I figure I'll be about 89 by then.
So yeah, I have my work cut out for me. Eventually I would also like to do a body lift and or suspension lift, do a little bit of work on the exhaust, install a cold air intake, and reupholster the interior. Amongst other things.
That's my dissertation, thank you for reading (even if you didn't), and all of your suggestions & tips are welcome. I appreciate all the help I can get- I'm a little new at this!
I'll be posting pictures along the way, looking forward to makin progress
