I found a 3.73 Non-LSD axle from a 1996 ford explorer for $90 at the junk yard today, I only know its a non LSD from the service tag after i got it home.

Whoops.... my mistake

Is it worth keeping or should I try and get rid of it? I figure at worse it could be practice for swapping the perches, at best something to tide me over until i can find a proper 8.8

I'd use it for now. You can always get an LS carrier and clutches later.

go back and trade it....offer 30-40 dollar more for restock.

Thanks adsm08

I think I'll just get some perches and weld them on tomorrow night
:icon_welder:

now to deal with the brake lines......

go back and trade it....offer 30-40 dollar more for restock.

it was out of state and i happened to be passing through, I hit car-part.com on my phone and found the junkyard along the way. I'll just take it as a future lesson on remembering to double check things before i leave.

$90 is a good price for any disc Ex axle if it's in good shape.
Like adsm mentions, you can always put something in it at a later date.

here's a picture if anyone cares

yeah, use it and ride for now..
then throw an Aussie in it later, off-roader or not.. it's better than limited slip lol

actually if you post up on here, you might find someone with a limited slip carrier that wants to lunchbox lock it... so they might trade you even. who knows

well

i dont agree.....the thing with stock axles is i get them for 90-125 regardless.

to freshen and setup a free lsd costs more then that. so i go find a decent axle in the yard....bolt and go. i have lifetime brakes where i buy parts so thats never an issue when it get another axle time. problem now....i dont have an 8.8 in anything:icon_rofl:....just full floaters and 9 inchers.

where your fawked is when you need a non factory ratio and a custom carrier, if those are in the future then it dont matter.

so i agree to run it for now...and get a aussie or lockright drop in later

if your stuck on a lsd then sell this for 50 bux when the time comes after you buy the lsd axle you want for 75-150 bux

Well I don't think I'm going to go nuts with this axle just fresh brakes, axle perches, and paint then sell it for what I paid for it when the time comes.
I'll let someone else deal with the regearing. Any gears I swap to will be stock ratios anyway.

Thanks for the info guys
