im finally done talking about it and im ready to buy a leveling kit... should i do leveling coils. or coil spacers... what would be better, and why? im going with the 2 inch kit... whichever i go with...

Coils.

As springs age you lose ride height, with new coils you gain that back plus however much lift you want.

although... we are replacing the coils on my truck soon anyway... so it may be ok to do the spacers if im gonna have brand new stock coils... correct me if im wrong here...

would both options, of the coil method... and the spacer and new stock coils both provide the same lift?

Yeah, but with the coils you would only be buying a set of coils.

ok... thanks guys... i dont really have experience with this, its nice to talk to some people who know what theyre talking about... thanks guys

well... depends on how bad worn out your coils are...

a leveling coil might give you more lift than a leveling spacer..

You are buying leveling coils--after you install them your suspension geometry will be torpedoed like the Lusitania.

Lifting a TTB/TIB Ranger isn't that easy. Jamming a spacer under the coil is going to play merry hell with the alignment. It's a good suspension, but it needs to be studied on a truck-by-truck basis, not just have parts throw on it. It's going to be out of whack after you are done with the Daystars or whatever.

The back of the truck is higher for a reason--it's a truck. the back of the truck is designed for a load. That load would level the truck. Jamming some spacers under the front coils will push the front out of whack. It's going to eat tires and steer funny. Whatever you do to the front suspension needs to be done correctly. There are 3 fulcrums of movement up there--it's not like putting lift blocks on a straight axle.

There is no easy lift for a Ranger, even though jackasses sell them. They want your money and don't care about your trouble afterwards.

No matter how much thought you put into it, lifting an IFS truck will require an alignment.

I put Explorer springs in mine, picked up roughly an inch of lift with absolutly no drivablity concerns at all. I need to align it, but other projects keep cutting in line and keeping the truck more or less parked anyway.

I'm going to level the front of my 2wd sometime soon and that is probably what I am going to do. From what I've read, with the lift coils you are not guaranteed 2 full inches of lift. Plus, like stock springs they will sag a little over time. My stock coils aren't sagging much, so I am probably going to buy new stock coils and order a stud extender from Fat Bob's and buy some washers to use as spacers.

No matter which route you go you will have to buy adjustable camber bushings. I got mine at Napa for my 4x4 and they are plus/minus 4 degree bushings.

I put new stock coils and about 1" of washer spacers on each side of my 4x4 and I got a little over 2" of lift. I wish I could do that on my 2wd, but the stock studs aren't long enough.

I've tried both. I first had spacers with stock coils and then tried leveling coils. I ended up going back to spacers. They actually gave me more lift. You will need an alignment no matter what you do though
