I have a 94 Ranger, 4.0 manual. I am putting in a 4.0 from a 91. I used my old wiring harness (the 94 one) and it looks like there is no hole in the oil pan for my oil level sensor (not the oil pressure sender). Did the 91 4.0 not have an oil level sensor? What should I do with my sensor? Will I just have to have a warning light on all the time?

Nope!

The senser should be a simple thing to wire across. Should be easy to turn the light off. That is one senser that you prolly wouldn't ever need anyway.

My 91 has the oil level sensor. Could you not just change the pans over from one motor to the other?

Wire across

what do you mean wire across?

I mean look at the wire/wires you have going to the sensor.. Make the wire/wires do what they would do if the oil pan was full..
Most likely there is only one wire and it is looking for ground. When grounded the oil light will not come on and then when the oil gets low and the sensor isn't grounded by the oil the light comes on.
If two wires and the light is on when they are open then wire them together and close the loop..

Yeah I was thinking about that but it's kind of a bunch of work for a sensor that I'll probably never need anyway. Plus I just finished this swap so I just want to get it back on the road ASAP

Thanks Jim I will do that
