i was wondering where the oil sending unit is located on a 2.9.... and what oil pressure it is suppose to run.....

Sending unit is on the driverside front of the motor. Down close to the manifold. There is a hex shaped boss poking out of the motor with a sending unit screwed into it.

Should be fairly obvious because it sticks out there for some odd reason.

My oil PSI is 60 when cold, and drops down to 20 at warm idle.

oil pressure spec is 40-60 at 2000rpm according to ford when at idle i like to see 18 or higher
