Anyone know of a small or slim oil sending unit that would fit directly onto the 302 block? I have a few different extensions etc to work with for finding an ideal location that wont have clearance issues. I initally tried to run it off of the oil filter relocator but there is really no way because the motor mounts are in the way (advanced adapters mounts)

Pics or part #'s would be helpful to figure out a solution.

Here's a couple pics of what I've got. The first is the factory sending unit for a '91 Crown Vic, and the second is an adapter and sending unit for a late 70's Ford truck. I may try to use the adapter and F-Series sending unit if I mod my cluster so the oil pressure gauge behaves like a real gauge instead of an idiot light with a needle.

Edit: to be more clear, the second pic shows an "idiot light" sending unit threaded into the adapter. The larger sending unit is from a late 70's F-Series truck, and I *think* using this sending unit along with a simple modification to the gauge cluster, the oil pressure gauge will change as the oil pressure changes.

Nice. i have a similar configuration to the bottom pic. just seems to be too bulky.

Crown Vic def one to consider... nice and small!

Here's mine, if you can figure out the orientation.
Stock extension (not sure if it was from the 5.0 or 4.0, think they were the same), to a "Y", then the dash sender and my aftermarket sender. Tons of room. Brackets are 5.0 Mustang AC elimination (or simply non-AC car).

Picture is looking straight down from the front, the extension is blue with some teflon tape on it, you can see the blue crank pulley
and the lower rad hose.

This is just a NPT 45 degree elbow, and a very short length of pipe.

oil sending unit

I am using my factory 99 Ranger sending unit.

mine is using the fullsize pickup sending unit from an 85(the bulky one) its a tight fit but i used some adapter either off the 2.3 or the 302 i dont remember which one but it brings it out to just give enough clearance for the manual fuel pump and the relocation kit. the unit sits right about at the fenderwall side of the head

It is plugged in this picture but you get the idea. My motor is out of a 1980 E150 (as is the extension). It is a 351w, but I'm sure the hole and threads are identical. I would think that if you used that extension you could put just about any sending unit on there you like. There's a ton of room after that.

I used an analog gauge and some hard line so there really is no bulk. That could be another route for you to go. Good luck
