Oil Sender Removal/Install

Looks like the stock switch is threaded into a short block that protrudes from the engine.
Adding a aftermarket oil pressure sensor, what's the easiest way to install?
Thinking about just removing stock unit and replace with the real sensor(I don't care about the stock gauge) - what would I use to remove the stock sensor from the little block it's threaded into. Didn't look like there's a place a wrench would fit.

thats what i did with mine, i have an aftermarket electronic oil sender, i just took off the factory crap one and replaced it was a pain but it works, the only other problem is the cluster gauge for your factory oil sender, it will show L on your dash and you will have a "CHECK GAUGE" light on, i just removed the lightbulb and learned to deal with the "L" on my dash, i tried to ground\route it with the aftermarket oil sender but it actually dropped my voltage to the Aftermarket giving me a false reading.

Oh sorry i didnt read all the way through your posting, the way i removed mine is the sender first then the adapter, cleaned out the adapter and put it back in then put in the aftermarket sender, it was quite a task having to be a contortionist to get the wrench up there.

Yea, my check engine light was removed a while ago too, haha

i just used a pair of channel locks to remove the sender from the adapter block then used a reg wrench for the adapter. You dont have to take the adapter out but i did because it looked kinda crappy inside of it.

happens to the best of us man, i left a 2ft pry bar under my hood yesterday. Not sure how i managed that lol.

I used a combination of channel locks and adjustable wrench to remove mine. I did not want to have a dead factory oil pressure gauge though so I used a tee fitting on the factory adapter and then mounted my two sending units to that. It works really good.

Just a quick dumb question, removing the block from the engine, will oil start leaking out everywhere?

Pretty obvious it will with the engine running, but with the engine let off?

Yes, it will drain the oil. I have to change mine as the plug on the end snapped off. When I took my replacement from a junkyard truck it drained the oil.
