Hey guys, new to the forum here. I recently bought an 85 Ranger, with a 302 swap out of an 85 LTD. The guy was selling it for $1000, so even though I wasn't looking to buy another truck, I just couldn't pass up on the deal. Overall the truck is in excellent condition, the body, and everything in the cab is in great shape, and motor runs strong. The only thing that doesn't work is the oil pressure gauge. I don't know for sure if the sending unit is bad, but it isn't wired to anything. It has one single wire coming from it and is taped off at the other end. Does anyone know where this wire should go? I can post some pictures if it would help. Any help would be appreciated.

The sending unit is just above the oil filter adaptor. Pretty well hidden unless you look hard.

The owner may not have installed it. Pics might help but it's pretty tight in that area.

Sounds like a good buy!

The sending unit is there, it just isn't wired to anything. It has a single wire that is just taped at the end. I just don't know where to run the wire to see if the unit is good or bad. Ill get some photos of it when I get back home

There should be a 8 wire connector on the drivers side the water temp sending wire goes to the white/red stripe goes to the guage.

To confirm the wire test for voltage to it with the key on, you should get about 8 pulsing volts short that wire to ground and the oil pressure guage should read high.

The water temp sending wire goes to the white/red stripe? Do you know where the oil pressure sending wire goes on the connecter?
