This swich keeps the fuel pump from running when the motor is not running / no OIl pressure, used on wire hot only hot in run/ start only. Anyone used one of these safty switches? Can they be teed in on one of the filter relocation lines? The oil pressure sending unit is in a tight spot and I would rather not mess with that.

I used stuff like that for generators, boats/ships, earthmoing equip ect. It has to have a delay so you can even start it. On boats it never went to shut down only alarm, if that baby is heading for the rocks you dont want a shutdown just burn that thing up till the last second before you have to bail. I used Murphy equipment back then and that switch would have been like a 518 APH 12V... IIRC.

Running carb / not electronic fuel injet. Also useing electric fuel pump and the kik switch/ innert switch. Just want to make sher that the pump don't run incase of crash .

Thats what the inertia switch is for, you dont need another for oil. If you hit or get hit, roll it that switch will shut the fuel off in a heartbeat. The oil light/pressure guage should be enough to let you know you have low OP.

Last v8 ranger I had. One of my kids flid it up sde down at 40 mph and had to turn the key off to shut it down.:shok::shok::icon_confused:

The oil pressure sender just has 1 wire and it will run up to the dash board, so you can tie into it where it is easier to get at.

The sender is a ground when engine is off, when engine starts the oil pressure pushes on the senders diaphragm breaking the ground, for an idiot light, on some there is a step resistance so low and high oil pressure for a gauge.

But all you need is the ground part, 0 oil pressure.

And a relay
Key on activates relay to close, disconnecting power to fuel pump, start engine and oil pressure causes no ground on relay, it opens connecting power to fuel pump.
This would be a double throw relay.

Because its a carb, engine will start with fuel in the bowl, then oil pressure would allow fuel pump to come on.
But as said the inertia switch will cut fuel pump power if triggered in an accident.

It is one of those "just because you can do it doesn't mean you should do it", lol.

A real gauge, not stock Ford then, lol, good for you, :)

I would still check the OHMs between ground and the sender wire with engine off, 0 pressure.
It might still be 0 ohms, so a ground when there is no oil pressure, some senders won't be 0 ohms, depends on the manufacturer.

With a carb, you still have to wait for it to empty out before the engine will turn off.
