:icon_confused:i have started on swaping a 98 exploder 5.0 into my 90 ranger 4x4 my question is do i still need to find a different oil pan or will the explorer one work? i also bought the v-8 ranger swap kit out of jegs and it says its for a 2 wheel drive will the motor mounts and headers still work? and also when i was comparing radiators the exploder one was a good bit bigger you think a guy should make it fit along with the motor? any other helpfull hints and advice is greatly appreciated!

Well I'm not sure about the oil pan but you may have to get a different one as the explorer v8's had IFS like the newer rangers so they work on 98+ rangers but the mounting might be slightly different on a TTB ranger.

The kit should work... I think you will possibly run into a problem with the headers because a 2wd doesn't have the driveshaft going to the front, thus they stick exhaust there. The mounts for everything else should be the same though.

I would change to the normal dual sump pan. The Explorers came with two different pans, a cast alum one and a stamped steel one. Doing a late model swap either one works in a 4x4 but only the stamped one works with the coil spring suspension. You may luck out depending on motor placement.

Not sure how that's going to work with the Mustang harness and computer, I know some have tried that, I'm not the wiring kind of guy. Pretty sure that stamped pan will work. I don't have any Mustang stuff (much), I've got a couple of '97' Explorer ones with the wiring. Used to be quite a few Mustang comuters and wiring on E-Bay. Good luck - keep us up to date.

I am using the mustang computer wiring in my 94 coversion as there is so much support for the mustang computers for better performance. You can get a wiring harness that is made for doing EFI swaps using the Mustang computers and they are simple to use. Check with Ford Racing as they sell them and they are PNP simple.:headbang:
