my oil level sensor is leaking oil pretty bad. i got the new part at the dealer but i am having trouble removing the one on the truck. the one on the truck has no hex head or any where to use a wrench and the outside seems to be entirely plastic. anyone who how to get it off? i will get some pictures up in the morning of the one on the truck and the new one.

thanks,
nate

Clean it up really well. That groove near the top of the hex in the new one, there is a double-butterfly clip that rides in there and holds the actual sensor to the plastic boss. Clean the gunk off, find the pin and pull it out, and then sensor should just slide out. There is an o-ring on it that might fight you, but is probably torn.

i think you're looking at 2 different things here. the first pic is the oil level sensor, but that should be located on the drivers side of the oil pan. pull out the wire and use a socket or wrench to get it off.

the pic on the bottom looks like the oil temp sender to me. it would be on the driver side portion of the block. i cant really tell because it's a shitty pic
