oil burning only after warmup

85 Ranger 2.8 burns alot of oil only once it is warmed up to operating temp. Based on your experiences, Oil control rings or valve guide seals? I have heard mixed opinions on when each issue will burn oil. Some say that guide seals burn oil only on start up, and control rings burn oil after it's warmed up. And I have heard the reverse of that. So, to the people who have had these issues on the 2.8 and resolved it, I would like your opinions.

A blown head gasket will leak antifreeze into the cylinder thus burning it....not oil.

Most times the oil control rings wear out at about the same time as the other rings.. I'd be putting my money on the valve seals.

Rings n my case

Fixed it by swapping in a 4.0 n place of 2.9

No point in swapping out a motor that runs well. It's not head gaskets, it's burning oil, not coolant. Just trying to find out what other peoples experience was with this specific issue. Specifically burning oil only once the engine is warmed up.
