Can it be done? Yes. Anything can be done. But what would I be in for trying this? I have a free 92 or 95 (my dad can't remember too much) 4.0 headed my way and I'm thinking it would be sweet in one of my Samurais. I just have no idea how I would get it to run. I'd assume there's an ECU of some sort that I'll need. Probably sourced from a similar year Ranger? Just a 2 hour old thought right now. I looked on the Suzuki forums real quick but didn't find anything yet. I'll do more digging.

I'm only worried about the electrical side of things BTW. I can figure the rest out easy enough. Just kinda suck at the old wiring thing.

Look at bronco 2 swaps the wiring will be similar

great idea, its a compact motor and not much space in a sami.
keep the rear end and it would make a good opposing trac for 4wheeling, not get stuck in its own ruts like a stock sami.

Ina Sami, a 4.0 would be a beast and there's no way you'll keep from everything else in the drivetrain in short order...

I'd consider a 3.0Vulcan to be a better choice for a V6 swap into a Sami,

The rest of the drivetrain should hold up decently. There's a guy with a vw diesel in one with 200hp/380tq and its held up fine running 37" stickies. Stock axles and shafts.
