Yesterday I installed an OHC in my truck . Be aware my truck is an 1986 xlt.
The test after the install checked out ok. I had a gap in the back of the console and said I would fix it today. Also I had no map lights. So this morning I started to fix this thing. I only have 1 wire at the dome light and I connected everything that was to be connected to that wire. This morning I decided that I would cut those wires and run a hot wire to the map light to get it to work. I connected the wire for the lights to the power wire for the console. I finished up and turned the ignition on and the map lights came on . They wont turn off with the button on the console. I thought the button would be the on off switch but, no way. So now I need some guidance in what I should do now. I hate like hell to take this this down again to fix it but I must I believe . Any ideas on this fix will be appreciated.
I am thinking that I can run the map light wires to ANY other wire in the console to get power. Am I correct? Thanks for any help.
