Oh!!!! The horror!!!!!!!

thats what oil+antifreeze looks like. Not a pretty site. Worst part is, the engine has to be torn down, all bearings replaced, and the block hot tanked. That leaves a film of crap on everything......ask me how I know. Had to RE-build a 302 once, ran so lean it melted the head gaskets. Not cool.

Ouch. :shok:

My Ciera suffered the intake manifold gasket failure, but it thankfully leaked down the sides of the block instead of mixing coolant into the oil. Cost "only" 700 bones.

wow, 15,000 miles? had no idea an engine could run that long without changing the oil AND having anti-freeze also leaking into the oil. personally i would never let an oil change go pass 5,000 miles. I cringe letting my ranger go to 5,000 on an oil change, but apparently its perfectly ok to do with synthetic oil which is what i run.

5,000 is actually ok even for the cheapest conventional oil. This isn't the 1970s anymore, oil is 10000x better than it was back then, and engines are way more efficient, clean-burning, and don't make the oil dirty as fast. The old 3 month/3k mile rule is very obsolete.

Those GM 3.1s and 3.4s are notorious for intake gaskets. That is definitely the worst I have ever seen though.

Good ol' Dexcool.

Ruined many-a-intake manifold gaskets. Mostly mid-90s through the mid-00s.

I can't tell you how any blazers and S10s I've seen that were like that.

first you see some coolant under your car. Then a month later your engine locks up. like clock work.

those GM mechs can change out a 4.3L intake manifold gasket faster than I can change a single brake pad.

the 5.7Ls did it to. but the gaskets were a an angle that the coolant didn't leak as badly. with the 4.3L it basically funnels the coolant into the oil HAHA.

i want a ZR2 with a locked engine soooo bad to do a 5.7L conversion on.
