Truck is still overheating 2.8, its not the jets I run a meter connected to the oxy sensor and vacumn guage. I can not put thermostat on top as there is no undercut on the offy water neck, I looked at the Ford part #D2RY8592A online Offy says I can use but it looks to be off a 1972 Capri with lower thermostat so its not undercut to accept a thermostat. I am thinking of putting a heater shut off valve in the Water bypass Hose,
electric operated 3/4 inch if I can find and use a
water sensing electric fan switch to close the valve when engine is up to temp,
I have to make sure I get a normally open valve and when its energized it will close. It seems to me it would be ok to close this bypass with a valve after the engine is up to temp and operating with the lower thermostat. As the Lower Thermostat is suppose to close flow to bypass hose when its fully open for normal flow. Looking for thoughts and ideals to do or not to do....I am thinking of electric valve as the vacumn valve with open when engine is in low vacumn such as time of acceleration just when I need more cooling Thank you

The aerostar vans that have the 2.8's run the thermostate on top but have a special housing that encloses it. Alot of guys say that it works nicely and it can be done to a stock intake or the Offy one. And like it describes, taks the thermostate from down below to up on top.

Aerostar Water Neck

I have looked online for pics of the Aerostar Water Neck but can not find any, I need a 3 bolt Thermostat housing and the Offy intake has like 2 main holes to match up to the Thermostat housing. I do not see how a thermostat for top would work. I have not changed the Water Pump yet as I have not found a top thermostat housing.
