sorry if this is covered alot or not but i was curious what offroaders do with their exhaust systems? i figured stock location or even side mufflers in front of the rear tires (like mine) would be bad if you ever get stuck in deep water/mud. even with my 33's and 8 inch lft ive gotten stuck past the exhaust (thankfully the driver side was deeper, exhaust on passenger side)

this applies to gas motors more i guess.

just leave it running, because if your exhaust goes under and you shut it off, it won't start back up. i don't know anyone who changes there exhaust for off road. i have a side exit on my truck and I've never had an issue and I've sunk it pretty well

you could always use stacks lol...

most just leave theirs alone. and a lot of offroaders don't just sit still in water.. unless stuck

Ive seen a few people run the exhaust up on four wheelers. but even those are few.
just dont let it die in water.

if it does pull it out, park it on a hill so the water runs out and then start it up.

this is assuming youre not in ridiculously deep sh** where water will flood the engine through the exhaust...

i dont think ive ever turned my truck off while being stuck but ive also never had my exhaust submerged. But the taco that pulled me out one day, he said he got stuck in the same spot but no one was around to pull him out. he waited for 7 hours. Im not sure how much gas you burn at idle for 7 hours but id imagine its a decent amount. and is idle enough pressure if youre under water?

how about you just don't offroad alone when its anything that's its like 5% possible you'll be stuck????

More so I didn't rip it off or start a grass fire, but when I had my exhuast put on my Ranger I had it routed between the frame rails, then over the frame and out and down at a fairly steep angle in front of the rear bumper.

A 3" bodylift and pulling the spare tire carrier out made room for it.

I am not too worried about water since I don't venture into anything like that, but I think my higher exhaust would help.

up and away, I just cut the stock exhaust

Man, my under side looked pretty gross back then

I like the downward pointing pipe, as long as all the joints are watertight no water will get higher than the bottom of the end of the pipe.
