I'll admit it. I'm clueless as to what the offroad package is on my truck lol.

it's a poor excust to charge you an extra $5k

different tires, shocks, skid plate, gears, should be a trans cooler if auto, fancy sticker, and a LS rear end.

now, what you have? ive got no idea lol.

Its like ricers, the more stickers you have the better it offroads

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

Unless its a Level II and you get fancy wheels and tires, and some cool shifters and white gauges. And a limited slip rear.

And the 2002 FX4 with MT and 2003 FX4 Level 2 with MT were the only 98+ Rangers with a manual transfer case. A rare find.... :icon_cheers:

And I'd take manual transfer case over electronic and time :icon_cheers:

For '99-2000, the sale brochure shows 16" cast alum wheels, Buldge shock absorbors, P245/75R-16 tires and a 4.10 rear gear (no mention of L/S as standard). '99'
came with fog lights, not with the 2000. Had to go out and look at my door sticker for 2000 off-raod and it shows a 97 for rear gear, 4.10 open. I believe tow hooks came on those years stock even on the Sport versioon.

Mac is correct, the limited slip diff was NOT part of the Offroad package for '98-'00, and probably even into the later years too. My uncle's '98 truck has the "4x4 Offroad" package, yet it has a 3.73 open rearend under it (code 96 on the door sticker).

Prior to '98, the package did include a L/S axle (I bought my '94 with it). As is often the case, Ford's thinking doesn't always make much sense. :icon_confused:

I do want to put a rear locker in it at some point.

I would just take a Level II in general haha

There are more options available for the open diff (if that is what you have) so that is a plus.

I doubt Ford thought that far ahead but that would be a really good reason to want a open diff on an "offroad" truck.

Compare to the coveted FX4 that could have the Torson... no lunchboxes for you unless you pony up for a carrier.
